26TH ANNUAL DOOR COUNTY LIGHTHOUSE FESTIVAL 2019 FALL SCHEDULE


We have many exciting fun tours to select from! Please be sure to select the correct day and time for the tour(s) you wish to attend. Be sure to pay attention to where your chosen tour(s) departs from.

PARTICIPANT - IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Arrive at the tour departure location at least 15 minutes before departure time
  • Dress in layers as the weather can change quickly
  • Take note of the lunch details of each tour
  • Bring your camera, sunscreen, and bug spray
  • Wear sturdy close-toed shoes, especially when hiking
  • Each lighthouse tour ticket includes free admission to the Death's Door Maritime Museum in Gills Rock through the end of the season
  • Intensity is the level of difficulty in participating in the tour (“1” being the easiest “5” being the most difficult)

TOUR E: LAKESHORE LIGHTHOUSE CRUISE


Departs from the Municipal Dock in Baileys Harbor

This boat tour includes seeing the Cana Island Lighthouse, the historic “Bird Cage” (old Baileys Harbor Lighthouse) and the Baileys Harbor Range Lights. The tour will also cruise by the location of several shipwrecks from the 1800s and you may be able to see one from the boat.

TOUR G: SCHOONER CRUISE-EDITH M. BECKER


Departs from the Marina in Sister Bay

Set sail into yesteryear on a 19th century tall ship to see Peninsula State Park's Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Join the crew in hoisting a halyard or sit back and listen to wind and waves aboard the 65-foot schooner, the Edith M. Becker. Local lore and history of the surrounding waters and water views of the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse will complete this sailing adventure as you view rocky shores, islands, caves, and majestic bluffs.

ADVENTURE TOURS-

TOUR H: CHAMBERS ISLAND TOUR


Departs from the dock @ 9448 Spruce Street in Fish Creek

Access to the lighthouse will require a 3-mile round trip docent-led hike across the island to the historic lighthouse. Lighthouse caretakers will meet the tours as they arrive at the house. There you will be able to soak up the amazing view and climb to the lantern room platform. Good hiking shoes recommended.

TOUR I: PLUM ISLAND TOUR

Departs from the Shoreline Charter Dock in Gills Rock

This is a rare opportunity to visit Plum Island and see into the island buildings with a guided tour by members of the Friends of Plum & Pilot Islands. This walking tour covers more than 2 miles round trip and requires good walking shoes. Shorts are not recommended.

See all of the Baileys Harbor lighthouses on this guided kayaking experience; the Baileys Harbor Range Lights, Cana Island Lighthouse, and the historic “Bird Cage” (old Baileys Harbor Lighthouse). You may even see a shipwreck or two.

TOUR O: DEATH'S DOOR ADVENTURE RAFTING

Departs from Ellison Bay Boat Ramp, located at 12033 Cedar Shore Road.

Visit the Death's Door passage and see the Plum & Pilot Island Lighthouses closer than ever before! Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for some of our local shipwreck sites. This hard-bottom inflatable boat makes for a fast and fun ride. (Note: if weather conditions are poor, this tour will be relocated to Fish Creek to view Eagle Bluff Lighthouse and the Strawberry Islands.)
