“Desert Song Cycle Album Release Multimedia Concert” at the Kress Pavilion on Sunday, Nov. 17

Transport to the desert with a music inspired by the desert accompanied by a slideshow of original works

(Egg Harbor) Join the Kress Pavilion and Violinist, Beth Chafey-Hon for an afternoon of live music inspired by the desert wilderness. Let yourself be inspired by the sounds of the arid landscape and wildlife with supporting strings music. Assembled by Chafey-Hon, the complimenting slideshow features rock formation and sand sculpted by the wind in contrast to beautiful photography of the vibrant Door County Landscape.

Multimedia elements and music will come together with a dance performance by Andria’s Dancin’ on the Door students, reminiscent of the tranquil drifting sand dunes and little creatures of the desert and woodland forest. Various live world percussion will accompany a few of the pieces. The concert proceeds will benefit the Kress Pavilion programming and all attendees will receive a free copy of the Desert Song Cycle Album. A pre-concert mingle with refreshments will begin at 2pm, with the performance to follow at 2:30pm.

Chafey-Hon calls Door County home, but finds this album inspired by the spirituality of nature and her childhood homeland of the of San Diego county. This performance is a precursor to a much-anticipated live debut in Hawk Canyon in Anza Borrego State Park on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, which is Leap Day. This concert in the wilderness is sponsored by the Anza Borrego Foundation, supporting the state park. Nature sings on the wind. Join us to celebrate.

About Beth Chafey-Hon:

Beth Chafey-Hon, composer/arranger and violinist/violist, has performed concerts for over 40 years and has a beautifully expressive way of playing her music. Originally from El Cajon, CA she moved to Wisconsin in 2001, where she finally earned her Violin Performance Bachelor’s degrees at UW Oshkosh. She’s written and published many scores, is a member of A.S.C.A.P. (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) writes music poly-stylistic from avant-garde to quite consonant and tonal. She has released 3 CDs, “Textured Violin,” “World on a String” and “Textured Violin Classix #2” and now her “Desert Song Cycle”. Each of the pieces is devoted to portraying various aspects of the desert wilderness, as in her last multimedia performance for the Anza Borrego Foundation, now she is adding a few songs for the wilderness and history of Door County, WI. Also in the works is “A Serenata” a CD of Violin and Harp, with Tamara Kazmierczak on harp, of exquisite romantic and light classical music.

Beth’s greatest love is giving back to her community through her music. She has given many benefit concerts throughout Door County, all funds collected from donations at concerts going to many special causes, and looks forward to supporting the Kress Library in Egg Harbor.
